“At the regular meeting in December of each year the City Council shall choose one of its members to serve as Mayor and one of its members to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore, each to serve until successors are chosen at the regular meeting in the following December.”

| Council Member John Freeman | |
A native of Southern California, John has participated in San Juan Bautista civic and community activities since first moving here in 2002. He joined the Strategic Planning Committee when it formed and served as chairperson of that committee for the past two years. John coached 7th and 8th grade basketball at San Juan School for two years. John is currently President of the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG). He is also on the Board of Directors of Central Coast Community Power. He is also member of the Bay Area Environmental Safety Group (BAESG). He is a specialist in the art of hazardous waste removal, disposal, and remediation and has 20 years of experience in Industrial Water Treatment; he has a small consulting business in those areas. |
